The Origin of the Jersey Devil
The Jersey Devil legend dates to 1735, when Mother Leeds of the Pine Barrens was said to have given birth to her thirteenth child. According to local folklore, the child transformed into a winged creature and disappeared into the night.
Stories of the creature have echoed around Leeds Point and the Pine Barrens for generations. JD's proudly carries that South Jersey spirit as the “Home of the Jersey Devil.”
Today, the legend lives on in a much friendlier form: a gathering place for neighbors, sports fans, families and visitors looking for a good plate and a cold drink.
